Gökyüzüne Övgü: Speedmaster Grey Side Of The Moon “Meteorite”

Selected by Nasa for space flight programs, with its design, necessary features, functions and endurance for tests, Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch makes it possible for you to wear a real piece of space on your wrist… The name Moonwatch suggests a deep space journey, and it brings the elements of space together from meteorite showers on the way to the red planet Sedna.

44.25mm Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon “Meteorite” from Omega, which has been the representative of passionate attitude, incredible designs and strikingly innovative style, introduces a number of new features to the Speedmaster collection. For example, this is the first time that a tachymeter scale has been created using OMEGA Ceragold™ (a special way of decorating ceramic watch parts with 18K gold). They aimed to create a smooth and captivating overall effect with these two materials together.

In this model, the 18K Sedna™ gold bezel is layered with a silicon nitride ring. It was added on the Omega Ceragold tachymeter scale. The mellow, reddish tone of the 18K Sedna™ gold is also used to create the brushed indexes and hands of the watch.

There is no doubt that the most significant feature of this watch is the incredibly beautiful meteorite dial! It is estimated that between 2000 and 5000 meteorites over 1kg fall to Earth each year. 75% of those disappear over the oceans or deserts, yet some are discovered and revealed for their rare beauty. On each watch of Omega Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon Meteorite, the dial has a piece of these stones from space.

Pieces of the Gibeon meteorite that fell to Namibia in prehistoric times are used for Omega’s “meteorite dial.” People of Nama have been using this stone to make tools and weapons. Recently, the charming and classic Widmanstätten pattern of this solid meteorite has been discovered by designers. The Widmanstätten pattern is named after the Austrian scientist who discovered the stone and it refers to the ribbon-like flecks that are found in this kind of meteorite after an acid etch. It is likely to be the favourite of those who search for a perfectly stylish experience.

For the fans of the iconic Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon, we must say that the magical design and many of the features are still present. The same revolutionary techniques to produce the grey ceramic case and the grey leather strap with its foldover clasp have been used. Likewise, the watch is animated by the OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 9300. Given that it carries a piece of the universe’s real secret, Speedmaster Grey Side of the Moon “Meteorite” pushes the limits of the world of timepieces through its mechanical and functional feasibility and it honours the spirit of leadership.
