Star Wars

Star Wars: When the announcement was made about The Force Awakens being produced under the hegemony of Disney, people certainly had questions about it. “Who will direct the film?”, “How will Disney handle this legendary movie?”, “What will George Lucas’ role be?” Of course no one had any ideas about the scenario.

Some of the options for directors were legendary names such as Michael Arndt, David Fincher and Brad Bird, but in the first quarter of 2013, they announced that J.J. Abrams took on this great role. In a year’s time, the director announced that he completed the scenario and he stated that The Force Awakens will have a ‘a journey to the origin of Star Wars’ kind of feel. Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg stand out the most when one takes a glance at Abrams’ crew. The costume designer of Star Wars, Michael Kaplan will also exhibit his skills in The Force Awakens. Daniel Minde, the cinematographer of John Carter, Star Trek series and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is also a part of the team.

As for the cast, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford aka Luke Skywalker are starring in The Force Awakens as before. It turns out, the movie takes place 30 years after the 6th movie of the series, Return of the Jedi, which will surely expand our collection of figures with new characters. If you are curious about the names that will mark the next few years, you are sort of in the right place.

Here are those characters:

Finn: He is a Stormtrooper who will be animated by John Boyega. Rumor has it that, Finn went to the desert without the permission of the Empire, might become a Jedi warrior. We’ll have to wait and see.

Rey: We don’t know much about the past of Rey, who is enacted by Daisy Ridley. But according to Abrams, there is a reason that she is named Rey. We are sure that Rey, the ruthless fighter of the desert, will be one of the key characters of The Force Awakens. Rey might be the daughter of Han Solo and Leia.

Kylo Ren: According to J.J.Abrams, Kylo Ren, enacted by Adam Driver whom we know from Girls, is not a Sith and he works for Supreme Leader Snoke which is an important figure for the dark side of the power. Kylo Ren who is committed to Darth Vader, adopted the philosophy “If you only knew the power of the dark side”.

Poe Dameron: He is a talented and courageous war pilot of legendary X-wing, enacted by Oscar Isaacwhom we know from X-Men: Apocalypse. We know Dameron as the commander of ‘Black Squadron’ in
The Force Awakens.

Captain Phasma: Enacted by Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones, Captain Phasma is the new generation leader of the Stormtroopers. Phasma, a fighter with her custom-made armour, is a very important character in The Force Awakens.

The premier of the movie will take place in Los Angeles on the 14th of December. After 10 years of waiting, it will be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D in theatres. Japanese national airlines All Nippon Airlines’ dedicated one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Star Wars, which can be seen as the amazing cover design of Empire Magazine. The Force Awakens will pay homage to Lucas’ inspirations on a platform that stretches from Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey to Zen Samurai’s to Roman history.
