Sky and Salt in One Frame

We cannot take our eyes off of Murray Fredericks’s mirroring salt lake shots.

Those who follow director and photographer Murray Fredericks’s works know that he’s obsessed with lakes, the sea and the sky. He especially has a deep connection with Lake Eyre, the biggest salt lake in Australia. After his first visit in 2001, he continued to visit the lake dozens of times, and decided to use the lake as a medium in his art.

He takes pictures of mirrors installed on the lake’s unbroken surface, and the result is spectacular and surreal. These mesmerizing photographs brings together an endless combination of colors and clouds, the sky and salt, and light and landscape in one frame. You can see his works at the exhibition Salt: Vanity at Hamiltons Gallery in London until June 16.
