Les Benjamins SS’24 collection takes us on a journey from East to West, telling stories of waving sails in the sea’s endless struggle with itself.
A narrative about striving to be the best and endless journeys. Kısmet Voyage is inspired by Sadun Boro, the first Turkish amateur sailor to sail around the world on a sailing ship, breaking off his own chains. While his beloved sailboat “Kısmet-Fortune” accompanies him from East to West, we examine the same route as an aesthetic interpretation at Les Benjamins SS’24 collection. In fact, ships don’t go anywhere, the only people who go are the passengers.
We leave ourselves to the dominance of the indispensable elements of maritime culture among the details of the collection. Pure white and tight ropes, in a worn and nostalgic aesthetic, but at the same time innovative, avant-garde to the fullest. Lightweight nylon fabrics inspired by the sail itself, raincoat jackets made from upcycledmaterials carry shades of green. We encounter physical feedback of the “Kısmet Voyage” story not only in the narrative but also on the designs.
We look closely at the contrast of textures and the harmonious relationships between different fabrics in multi-layered silhouettes. A 6-button blazer mixed with denim and striped thick fabric resembles majestic waves crashing against the cliffs. A deep blue suit blends leather textures with elements of the sea and fishing nets. Designs in beach brown tones with sleeves and skirts decorated with ropes add an innovative interpretation to the classic suit silhouette.
Silk adds an elegant touch to the stormy world of the collection. A two-piece dress made of white, thin fabric with adjustable slit details, no different than a pearl. A dress completed with brown leather and accompanying transparent materials offers a stylish silhouette with fluid attitudes.
While the prints are inspired by the nostalgic serif fonts of the 60s and the Morse code, they meet us with the signature 3-color world of Les Benjamins. Vintage oil painting posters and sailing job postings will accompany us in this universe.
