Jacquemus La Casa – Italian Summer Dream

Magnifique! Sometimes just one word defines everything and anything. The elegance of intimacy meets with heartfelt dedication to artistry while Jacquemus redefines the Italian summer dream and takes on Capri for its 15th-Anniversary Runway. 

Casa Malaptre is truly a place unlike any other. On the steep cliffs of the endless Tyrrhenian sea, we seperate from the nature and the more we separates, the more integrated we become. The catwalk consist nothing but the unique architecture of Casa Malaptre, 40 guests take their place forming a J and there is nothing else that takes the attention from the collection. 

The collection is based on the sense of belonging, dreaming and the idea of never-ending creativity. The unique scenery often invites great art to be made on the island, reaching to the likes of Jean-Luc Godard. The movie Le Mépris (Contempt) mused Jacquemus to create his brand, as he expresses “Being inspired by the beauty and modernity of his vision.” which shows off with the way the collection is presented. Jacquemus proves once again that dreams are meant to be achieved. 

Like we mentioned, there is nothing ordinary about the show. As the guests gather around, their boats dance around the skirts of the dock. Waves come crashing to the shore to play the first notes of this symphony. The models walk-up exactly 99 stairs to get to the catwalk. All these details add up creating a harmony that almost feels spiritual. 

The show starts with elegant silhouettes as expected from Jacquemus. Oversized silhouettes with 80’s pleats stroll the stage with monochrome tones. Three colors speak the loudest, turning the mood however they please. This nonchalantness comes from elegance, and accompanying it slicked hair and nude makeup points all the arrows to the clothing. 

First, blue and teal catches the eye. Teal shows itself the most with the accessories; as a headscarf, a belt and midi size bags to complete the looks. Yet we also see it as a mesh top and as an elegant silk midi dress. On the other hand we have dark blue as deep as the sea, showing itself in mens two-pieces. Indigo and wool are mixed to soften up the contrast between the two. 

Then, yellow takes on the stage. Young, full of energy, simple yet passionate and sleek as ever… Jacquemus excels at making the most of a color. Soft, pastel monochrome pieces shine as warm as the sun. Two-piece suits are broken up with red to create contrast which truly showcases the beauty of the big picture. 

Finally red and green… Bold, daring and sexy as ever. We talked about contrast, but Jacquemus is only getting started. A red suit with a matching tank top catches the eye and the world stops for a minute. Just moments later, a green two-piece suede suit dazzles us in the exact same way.

The house demonstrates a perfect example of a self-portrait, in the most perfect place. Summer lives, waves live and clothes are the source of life which in this case are definitely praised upon.
