Entangle w/ Nilperi Şahinkaya

Believing in the power of fashion is equivalent to making a part of your soul a little more visible. We are opening the doors of a strong, brave, rebellious and striking world with Nilperi. We are in a universe that will destroy the concept of time with Nilperi, who has turned into a night-oriented, dynamic, confident futuristic fairy tale hero. Everything is possible now.

What has been the most influential event for you lately?

We are visibly transitioning into a new world. Metaverse has been talked about for a long time and its power will be underestimated until it happens, but I think that most of us will probably lose themselves in this virtual world where everything is better and possible. Some big brands have already taken their place in Metaverse, land is being bought and Metaverse coins are being talked about. Only 10 years from now, we may find ourselves in a true “Black Mirror” universe. Of course, in the midst of the economic crisis in our country, we cannot think about it, but it is coming. Making an imaginary world real by breaking away from the physical world means removing the line between fantasy and reality. Isn’t that so weird?

The only thing that connects me to the truth in this universe is that there is a continuity. You know you are in a dream because you wake up with a different dream every night, but if you had a continuous dream every night, what would be the real universe? Or if you fall into a dream that you never wake up from? Now your dream becomes reality. I think this world is a dream.

We are somewhere between dream and reality; what’s on your mind?

I think the Metaverse continues… There is a feeling of lightness in the body; that is, a more mental universe where there is no burden or any weight of the body. There’s no gravity. An object can fly through the air, or I can see an object in many places at once. Getting from point A to point B may not require a certain amount of effort and time. I can teleport.

Which superpower would you choose in a world where anything is possible?

Definitely teleporting because it’s incredibly difficult and tiring to get around in this chaos. If I could teleport, there would be no fatigue.

What phase is your acting going through?

I do not know exactly. The period when I jumped into each new role with appetite is over. Especially at this time, I question exactly what kind of woman I want to play. I guess I like creating a character that is unique to me rather than telling a story, which means acting as a character. The character I play must have an interesting feature. This desire carried me to comedies without realizing it. When I play, I like to portray brave women with high energy. I am currently going through such a phase.

How do you look at your career when you compare your first day on stage with today?

It wouldn’t have crossed my mind for a shy person like me to play in solo theatre play. This is my fourth play on stage. Until this play, I didn’t understand why the applause was so important. Along with this play, I saw that standing up and being applauded made it very eye-catching. Of course, you take everything personally in a solo play, all the burden is on you. I don’t think too much or I’ll start to panic. I’m happy that I think I got a place on the stage quickly, but I’m still new, I have a long way to go. In my opinion, once you are sure of your acting, your performance drops. Your effort to prove yourself to your audience should never end. You are your most critical audience. This is an endless state of starting from scratch.

What motivates you the most and strengthens your bond with life?

I feel refreshed when an exciting new project arrives. Thinking about that project, talking, dreaming, feels like a brand-new life has been given to me to shape. I love working like crazy for a job I love. It energizes and invigorates me. Contrary to work, going on a summer vacation to relax also evokes the same feeling. If a holiday is approaching where I will meditate, dream again, start a new book, swim and sunbathe, I will be very happy.

I think we emphasize our character with the help of fashion. Fashion has the power to show who you are with just one look.

How is your relationship with fashion? How much do you care about how you look?

I care a lot. I don’t leave the house until my hair, make-up, clothes are comfortable, even if it’s to get a coffee and go home. If I’m going for a walk at 8 in the morning, I want to be well dressed. I think we emphasize our character with the help of fashion. Fashion has the power to show who you are with just one look. Your choice of dressing can create a strong aura for you. You can show your difference, creativity, power, charisma and many more thanks to fashion. The most powerful weapon of social environments.

Your ultimate dream as an actor?

There is an autobiographical novel written by my mother (Meltem Vural) and which was very successful, called “Iran Behind That Mountain”. I want that novel to be a movie and I want to play my mother. It’s an interesting story and people are really surprised when they hear it’s my mother. My mother got married for the first time when she was young, with an Iranian doctor she met at the university, and she went to Iran with her, but at that time, the Islamic revolution in Iran takes place and they enlist her husband immediately. My mother lives alone in her husband’s family home. When she decides to return, she learns that her husband has canceled her Turkish passport and cannot leave without his permission. Her story is about the years that passed as she tried to return.
