Women in The Arts

Feminism is the new cause du jour, if you are interested….. Lena, Emma, Taylor….. they seem to be at the forefront in taking feminism to the next level, and its only become ignited more so with Democratic candidate, Hilary Clinton and her quest to the Presidential chair. So here is a new cause and quest; come March women artists are getting hashtag with a new social media campaign, headed up by the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NWMA). Starting on March 1st, the project calls special attention to the gender imbalance in the art world both nationally and globally. The NWMA is calling on other arts institutions to join them in sharing quotes, statistics, images, and other pertinent information about women artists both living and past with the hashtag #5womenartists. Leading in on the act so far will be the Solomon Guggenheim Museum and the Los Angeles County Museum.
