Stay Golden

Where fashion has become a tool where individuals can express themselves more freely and more personally; creativity, individuality and personal touches symbolize self-confidence. The phenomenon of individualization that comes with the new generation allows new designs and designers to be free. The collaboration between Kismet by Milka and Nike is taking the creative power of new generations with them, while combining the street culture which is not afraid of taking risks, with elegant accessories. The 12-piece collection consisting of 5 designs provides a space for individuals to reflect their original styles.

While designers Ecem Özden, İlayda Akdoğan, Nurseli Büber, Pelin Taşkıran and Zehra Akçay mentioned their inspiration, Milka Karaağçlı İnce, the founder of the Kismet by Milka brand, talks about their motivation in this process, the step they took with Nike to support young female designers and many topics on the current spirit of street fashion.

İlayda wears a blouse by David Koma, Beymen and shorts by Nike. Her socks and shoes Nike Air More Uptempo ’96. Her Kısmet by Milka Necklace accessorized with Electrical Charm.

Kismet by Milka, who collaborated with Nike held a workshop at Hope Alkazar last International Women’s Day. Nike members, who are talented in the field of design and want to shape their career in this direction, have created their own accessories by combining the design DNA of both brands with Milka. At the end of this process, a 12-piece collection emerged with the touches of the Kismet by Milka team, with 5 selected designs.

When we asked about the process of transforming the designs into accessories, Milka answered; “Our main goal was to transform the drawings made by the members in the workshop into designs that could be easily used in real life, on clothes and shoes. It was an intense work process to transform both brands into technical designs and visually striking accessories to bring both brands together creatively.” As a result of this work, 5 designs that make up 12 different pieces, including pins, brooches, charms and anklets, came to life as the creations of Ecem Özden, İlayda Akdoğan, Nurseli Büber, Pelin Taşkıran and Zehra Akçay.

The concept of fashion has become a reflection of how individuals want to express themselves. I find the expression of the new generation, that is free from norms and without fear of taking risks, very cool.

The earnings from these accessories called Royal Strike, Solar, Interstellar, Electrical and Dimensional Love, will be used to support girls’ access to education and sports through ÇYDD. Defining the motivation behind this as “prideful”, Milka also emphasizes her motivation as to support women with a common goal and to inspire other women with this work they have done with Nike, which has the same vision as theirs.

If we talk about the background of the designs; the inspiration comes from the energy of young designers. Nurseli’s design, Solar, represents the inclusiveness and beginning of circular forms as the source. In her own words, her work is powerful, energetic and original. Interstellar, designed by Zehra, was created with a simple design with the wish of seeing small moments of happiness and having fun. Ecem, on the other hand, states that she wants to reflect the sportive elegance she prefers in her daily life by using the basketball to represent her connection with the street, together with elements from the Kismet by Milka DNA. Supporting the creativity of new generations; “In today’s world, where norms and stereotypes are slowly disappearing, I believe that a very talented new generation is present in Turkey. An exciting, passionate, researching and a knowledge-hungry generation. We have talented young people who don’t know where to start. Thanks to our collaboration and Hope Alkazar workshops, we are able to uncover hidden talents.” she states. Milka, who has been in this business for 13 years and emphasizes the importance of getting support in this process and the importance of supporting the new generations.

I get my strength in my business life from my belief and my dreams. For me, success, dreams, creating ideas that make a difference and the love of production are something that comes with believing in yourself… I believe that routine hinders success and that success comes with taking pioneering steps that constantly make a difference. People determine their own future and success with their choices.

While the designed charms and pins offer an opportunity to elevate our daily style, they promise an elegant touch to personalize sneakers and clothes. The disappearance of borders in the fashion industry is possible with pieces that can adapt to street style by going beyond the coding of accessories with women. “The concept of fashion has become a reflection of how individuals want to express themselves. I find the expression of the new generation, that is free from norms and without fear of taking risks, very cool. Based on this inspiration, I love that all of our collections can be adapted to mix & match. All our designs support the self expressive  style of the buyer.” Milka emphasizes that the usage of the designs in the Kismet by Milka x Nike collection are only limited to your imagination. Now we are in a world where we can internalize street style with a little strength, courage and originality, inspired by the creative power of women.
