Ndebele Traditions feat. BMW Spirit

In the 1970s, the automobile racer and the auctioneer of Hervé Poulain started BMW Art Car Project, as a motivation for artists to create canvas on a car. In 1991, the South African artist Ester Mahlangu’s designed the BMW 525i, as a part of the project, which will be exhibited by Borusan Otomotiv, in this years’ Contemporary Istanbul.

Born in 1936, Mahlangu is famous with her colourful paintings and murals inspired from Ndebele tradition. We will all see the fusion of African traditions with the spirit of BMW!

Each year, Contemporary Istanbul brings together leading galleries, artists, collectors and art enthusiast with the organization, and makes Istanbul the regional and international focus of art world.

Let’s not forget to add that the BMW Group has signed projects worldwide in the areas of modern and contemporary art, jazz, classical music, architecture and design with more than 100 cultural partnerships in the last 40 years.
