Freddie Mercury Asteroid

Celebrations to mark Freddie Mercury’s 70th birthday received a cosmic boost as Brian May, Queen’s lead guitarist, announced via YouTube that an asteroid nearly half a billion kilometres away had been named after the late singer.
International Astronomical Union’s Minor Planet Center has renamed Asteroid 17473 Asteroid 17473 Freddiemercury, in honor of the singer’s 70th birthday. It is an extremely kind gesture, even when considering the fact Freddie already has his own planet.
