Digital Stage #9 The Bear

Produced by Zorlu PSM and creative producer Based Istanbul, Dijital Stage is a project that interprets cult classic theatre works through a contemporary lens and brings them together with the audience. This week’s sequence, “The Bear” is available on the Zorlu PSM Youtube channel.

With the adaptation of the director İbrahim Çiçek who is one of the bravest people of the theatre world, Digital Stage combines sequences of the theater’s cult works with visual storytelling, bringing them to the digital world and providing a modern interpretation of classic works. The play, which will be staged this week, stars Enis Arıkan and Şebnem Bozoklu as leading actors. “The Bear”, which conveys the possibility of the coexistence of hate and love, is presenting to the audience a brand new meaning.

“The Bear” depicts the transformation of the different people’s hatred of each other into a love
born out of passion with ludicrous absurdity. A sequence from Chekhov’s play, which mixes
cacophonic comedy with realistic pessimism created by the union of unusual characters, turns
into a bold adaptation with the extraordinary performance of Enis Arıkan and Şebnem Bozoklu.

Asking, “Do passions lie?”, The Bear is available on the Zorlu PSM Youtube channel.
