Produced by Zorlu PSM and creative producer Based Istanbul, Dijital Stage is a project that interprets cult classic theatre works through a contemporary lens and brings them together with the audience. This week’s sequence, “Three Sisters” is available on the Zorlu PSM Youtube channel.

With the adaptation of the director İbrahim Çiçek, who is one of the bravest people of the theatre world, Digital Stage combines sequences of the theater’s cult works with visual storytelling, bringing them to the digital world and providing a modern interpretation of classic works. The play, which will be staged this week, features Başak Daşman, Nur Fettahoğlu, and Şükran Ovalı as the three sisters.

Addressing a critique of the social environment and suffocating country life, “Three Sisters” offers the audience a brand new meaning.

“Three Sisters” reflects the fine line between hope and despair, where hopes for the future coincide with the reality of country life, through the bitter reality of expectations. While the sisters are waiting to go to Moscow as if they are waiting for Godot and are stuck in the life they have to live, Chekhov addresses the exact spot where embracing our own personality hits the walls built by society since birth and blends the story with realist pessimism. A sequence from the play is presented to the audience as a bold adaptation through the jaw-dropping performances of Başak Daşman, Nur Fettahoğlu, and Şükran Ovalı.

Asking, “If we had a chance to start over with all our experiences, what kind of life would we choose to live?” Three Sisters is available on the Zorlu PSM Youtube channel.
