Meet “Torre,” the Latest Milanese Icon Fondazione Prada’s Last Tower

Torre was opened in April 2018 as the latest department in Milan by Fondazione Prada which was opened in 1993 as a center to analyze and exhibit contemporary art exhibitions as well as architecture, cinema and philosophy projects. Designed by Rem Koolhaas, the nine-story Torre offers an original perception of the interior thanks to a special combination of three spatial parameters – dimension, height and harmony.

The venue was first designed in 2015 by Rem Koolhaas with Chris van Duijn and Federicano Pompignoli and was opened as Fondazione Prada’s first location in Milan.

Torre’s project “Atlas” which comprises six exhibitions was born from the dialogue between Miuccia Prada and Germano Celant. The exhibition comprises works by Carla Accardi and Jeff Koons; Walter De Maria; Mona Hatoum, Edward Kienholz and Nancy Reddin Kienholz; Michael Heizer and Pino Pascali; William N. Copley and Damien Hirst; and John Baldessari and Carstem Höller.
