Blood, Sweat and Glitter: Glow!

Curly hair, shiny swimsuits and wrestling – if you’re not used to hearing these words together, let us introduce you to Glow.

We have some good news for those who have watched everything on your Netflix account. The new comedy TV series Glow seems to be the savior of summer. Inspired by Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, a low-budget women’s wrestling TV show in 1986, Glow tells the story of Ruth Wilder, an actress/wrestler from the show. Running from one audition to next in the ‘80s Los Angeles with her dreams to earn money, Ruth finds herself in the world of women’s wrestling.

Alison Brie (from Mad Men and Community) and comedian Marc Maron share the lead in Glow, the latest collaboration between Carly Mensch (writer, Orange is the New Black and Weeds) and Liz Flahive, who worked on Homeland. The show’s another appeal beside the charming cast is the ‘80s glam style. Shiny, high-cut dancer swimsuits, neon leggings, mom’s jeans of your dreams, and the curliest perm you can think of. Let’s confess – we can even watch the show on mute just to enjoy the ‘80s fashion.
