“I wanted to frame the invisibility of humans in the power of nature, which is a deteriorating concept nowadays as every landscape is rapidly being taken over by humanity. Çamlıhemşin is a village in Turkey located in Rize. While I was experiencing the place I felt familiar yet unfamiliar within my mind and soul, which made me feel unsettled yet liberated. Even though, the beauty of the Black-sea region of Turkey is all about the rich and lush greenery it offers, I preferred to shoot in black and white film, in order to show the rawness and breathtaking textures it embodies. As humans we are always persistent to act and be the dominant in order to fulfill our ego. Hence, this series reflect a juxtaposed view of the power play between humanity and nature.”
